Because of the amount of pictures, Bobo decided to split into more galleries than one. He tried to take pictures of each important step of the restoration .

There is also an additional comment for each pic.

Please understand, that not all pictures are available yet, so check the page frequently for any news.

FAX, when bought in 2009

Here you can see FAX when Bobo bought it from jon in 2009.

After searching a Cooper or "S" for a while, and two UK trips for having a look at cars for sale, Bobo and his friend Frank went over o Kinver to check out a Fiesta Yellow Morris . Click on the picture to see me in the condition I was bought in 2009.

Demounting work

The first step for a restoration is demounting the car and checking the condition.

FAX was in really good condition, nevertheless Bobo planned to built an outstanding car, so that FAX was fully stripped. See all periods of trasferring a complete car into a puzzle, when clicking the picture.

The bodywork

The bodywork is definitely one of the most important work on a restoration.

To reach the expected result it is very important to find a man with very good skills in bodyworking.

In Hans Müller-Deck a friend was found who has this skills and after a short discussion about the full extend of the work Bobo brought the stripped and sandblasted body to him. It took a few weeks and FAX left the garage of Hans very different from the starting condition. See the pics.

The paintjob, a glossy result

It took a lot of time, but the result justified all the effort taken for the paintjob.

For a high glossy and solid result Bobo and his friend Guido gave their best to let FAX look as good as possible. For good reproducability in the future, Bobo chose  a actual VOC compliant paint from STANDOX which was formulated exclusively for FAX to match an 40 year old color standard from BMC.

See detailed pictures of the paintjob here.

Assembling, the "better" jobs begin

After all the hard work, the assembling is a much more cheerful job.

While Faxe built engine and gearbox, Stephan, Frank and Bobo started assembling the body. First, the fuel, brake and hydrolastic pipes have been fitted followed by both subframes. Those have been assembled by Stephan after Bobo delivered all the necessary parts which were sandblasted and painted. A lot of pictures in this section, but even more in the "parts" topic available soon.

Parts, overhauling all the small components

Here you can see the work on all the small components from in and outside of my body. Bobo took really every single part of me to restore and make it look like new.

FAX, finished in July 2011

Here you can see me finished. After nearly 20 month of hard work I'm now looking better than new. Bobo will add some more pictures later, but of course I want to show you my actual condition now. So here are the first impressions of the final result. Enjoy...
